Two Easy Techniques for Finishing Corners When Installing Solarguard Pro

When it comes to bird-proofing solar panels, installing Solarguard Pro is not only a reliable solution but also an easy and efficient process—especially with the right technique. With the introduction of our new QuikClip and more insights from real-world installations, we’re sharing two proven techniques for corner installations that both new and experienced installers can use to get a clean, secure finish every time.

Let’s take a look at these two simple approaches:

Technique 1: Fold and Tie — One-Piece Simplicity

The first technique is ideal for installers who want to keep things straightforward by working with one continuous piece of mesh.

Here’s how it works:

  • Fold the mesh neatly in every corner rather than cutting it.
  • Secure the fold using two or more cable ties to hold the mesh tightly in place.
  • This method ensures that no birds or debris can squeeze underneath, while also maintaining the integrity of the mesh.

It’s a simple yet highly effective approach, and many of our Vexo-certified installers prefer it for its speed and durability on the roof.

Technique 2: Cut, Overlap, and Secure — A Precision Finish

For those who prefer a cleaner fold-free finish, our second method involves cutting and overlapping the mesh at the corners.

Steps to follow:

  1. Use a cable cutter or our SC-02 Band Cutter to achieve a clean, straight cut. A precise cut helps prevent jagged edges that could compromise the integrity of the mesh.
  2. Cut the mesh with a 10–15 cm surplus on each side of the corner. This allows enough overlap to fully enclose the gap.
  3. Layer the mesh, placing one side over the other to close off the corner completely.
  4. Secure with 3–4 cable ties, depending on your preference, to ensure the joined section is tight and seamless.

This method is ideal for installers who want a highly polished, professional finish—especially for more complex or visible installations.

Why It Matters

Both techniques are effective and easy to execute. The choice comes down to installer preference, job requirements, and overall aesthetic. With the addition of QuikClip and a bit of installer know-how, finishing corners with Solarguard Pro is a smooth, stress-free part of the installation process.

By using these techniques, you can ensure that every job is completed to the highest standard—keeping birds out and solar performance at its peak.
